The Four Oaks mission statement says, “We assure children become successful adults.” But several years ago, Four Oaks Board members asked us how we knew that.
When children get help at Four Oaks and complete mental health or behavioral treatment for a specific issue, they reach short-term stability in one area of their life. But how long does that stability last, if other problems aren’t addressed? And will they become successful adults years later?
We analyzed just how we would transition short-term, single issue treatments into long-term results. That’s when the TotalChild approach was born. With this holistic, all-embracing approach we walk beside children on their paths, through the tough times and happy times through their 18th birthdays.
We are proud to announce, after five years, we have enrolled more than 1,000 children in TotalChild and 97% are maintaining stability. To date, more than 60 TotalChild teenagers have reached 18 and are doing well. Our next challenge is to keep going and growing. In the next two years, TotalChild has a goal to enroll 1,400 children in Linn County.
TotalChild works because of collaboration with more than 200 local community agencies and caring individuals like you. Thank you for making a difference in our kids' lives and helping to build a better tomorrow for our community.
